A Single Sound,
A Thousand Petals
Lotus is a granular synthesizer aimed at making the most out of a small chunk of recorded audio
Designed with a portable form factor, Lotus can be used in any location from a studio session to the morning commute. Get inspiration at any moment and see what the most mundane sounds could make.
The synthesis engine is based on a 5 second tape loop and maneuvering playheads to spawn tiny grains of audio. These playheads are the bread and butter of the lotus workflow. Each one can have its parameters and playback controlled individually.
This interaction between the tape reel and playheads creates the unique and complex sounds of Lotus.

The Build Process
Here are some images and descriptions of major milestones during the build process of Lotus. See what the first iteration looked like and how it grew to where it is today.

Design For Manufacturing
A main focus point of this design process was designing with manufacturing in mind. This means focusing on a couple key aspects:
- Keeping part costs as low as possible and from as few companies as possible
- Designing the enclosure and PCB to be assembled quickly and easily
- Implementing features that allow for easy repairs (debug screens and PCB test points
